Abigail + Roman | Vancouver Wedding Photographer
Abigail and Roman met a friend's Halloween birthday party. Roman was dressed as a Jabbawockee, and Abby was too cool to be dressed up for a costume party (it was actually a spur of the moment thing that she ended up going to the event that night). Abby was going to leave the party, but she ended up lingering a little longer. In comes Roman, who returned to the party after club hopping that night. Abby noticed Roman right away because of his height and his costume. When they approached each other to introduce themselves, she thought he was quite the cutie. It was at this moment Abby knew that she was going to date him. However, Roman didn't give a second look at Abby… They hung out together with some friends that night and when Abby told Roman her last name he realized that Abby is his nursing classmate's (Amanda's) older sister! They soon found out that they also knew a lot of the same people, and were even at the same parties but had never crossed paths until now.
They exchanged contacts and added each other on Facebook. When they weren't commenting on each others post and photos on Facebook, they would talk on MSN Messenger. This interaction happened for a couple of months and it took a few more instances of bumping into each other at friends' birthday events for Roman to finally ask Abby for her number. They eventually started texting one another, but it was on a group day-trip to snowboard up at Whistler that sparks really started to fly. Their friends noticed that they had been talking and flirting all day, and on the bus ride back to Vancouver, they sat beside each other and spent the entire time getting to know one another. Abby even made a bold move and held Roman's hand! It took another month of hanging out together and going on dates for Roman to realize that Abby was pretty cool. He asked Abby to be his girlfriend in Queen Elizabeth Park, and even gave her two vinyl toy art figures that she had pointed out while window-shopping with him in downtown a few weeks prior. Abby was so surprised by the way he asked and thought he was so sweet to have remembered that! She became his girlfriend and fast-forward through 8 years of dating, Roman managed to surprise Abby again when he proposed to her in the same place. This time, he gave her a beautiful ring, and the promise of his love.
We took SO many photos in Queen Elizabeth Park. It was such an eventful day that they had planned for everyone who was joining them to share their wedding day. We even had an unexpected visit to Rain Or Shine, where they had accommodated Roman’s romantic idea of having a special quote written on their storefront sign — naturally, we made a quick pit stop and enjoyed some delicious ice cream! Thank you guys for having me photograph your gorgeous wedding day with all its traditions and crazy awesome performances and speeches, and the amazing weather we had!
I’d like to say a huge thank you to Daniela Ciuffa Photography and Little Mohr Photography for helping me out that day as my second shooters for this beautiful wedding.
