Death Cab For Cutie

So unfortunately I mixed up my SD cards and deleted the oh so many photos I took at the concert - Beacon theatre is a gorgeous place. The images I did find were on my phone though so hopefully they can do this entry justice. Also there is a video of "Follow You Into The Dark" and it was a gorgeous encore piece. The crowd was definitely a large mix of characters - from old to young, drinkers to dancers, it was overall a sit down performance but by the time the set was done and people knew encore was coming around, everyone stood up. Death Cab For Cutie is not only a great band but the quality of their music is just fantastic and can be appreciated in so many ways. They were accompanied by the Magik*Magik Orchestra. Great show! Enoteca Sociale

Talk about a fantastic night! As we walked into this unique restaurant, with a bar on the right side, high top tables, and then more tables and seating on the left, we could smell the aromas of delicious cooking. Bumping into a friend who apparently started working in the restaurant two and a half weeks ago, Enoteca Sociale has been the hype of all hypes in Toronto's dining scene. We had three antipastis, three pastas, and a dessert to share. Everything was prepared with so much care and the staff were superb. I apologize for the photos being so dark as it wasn't exactly the place to use flash photography. But hopefully you can get a sense at what kind of food I was able to enjoy. Food: Sweetbreads, Grilled Octopus with fingerling potatoes, Sea bream carpaccio, Pastas: chicken liver, spaghetti with a pomodoro sauce, simple meat sauce twisted pasta, Dessert: sticky toffee pudding with a cappuccino.

Ruby WatchCo

Named after a sign that Chef Lynne Crawford found with her partner in an abandoned warehouse, Ruby WatchCo is a place for great food, great atmosphere and everything else you can think of. Normally reservations are made weeks in advanced and you never know what's on the menu until that week as Chef Lynne uses fresh and organic products from various local farms in Ontario. Usually she's in the kitchen cooking your meals but that evening I was lucky enough to walk in and get a table for two she was filming Season 4 of Pitchin' In. Click here to find out more. So there I was, able to get a table just as I walked in and immediately had to order their Golden Eye cocktail - which truly was deliciously tasting and made you feel just as boss as an agent from MI6 - and on the menu was a 16hr braised pork shoulder salad, halibut, some house cheeses and a hazelnut and pear tart. The dishes were very fresh and full of flavours - halibut was NOT overdone but just perfect - and a bottle of red to pair with the evening just topped the night off. Enjoy the photos!

Snakes and Lattes

What a fun and awesome concept - $5 ahead, play as many games as you want and however long you want to! On top of that order a coffee or even some alcoholic beverages and you're set for a night of laughs or a breakfast with trivial fun. Snakes and Lattes is located west on Bloor and as you walk in on your left there will be a warm greeting from the host and on your way in a whole bunch of shelves that are filled with board games and more will just make you go "wow!" From word games to classics,  there is a  game suitable for every crowd. I got to enjoy a game of Guess Who with a cappucino and a lovely breakfast quiche. It may be a college hangout but it definitely appeals to everyone, young and old. [gallery columns="2"]

416 Snack Bar

Now that school is done, it's all play and no work! 416 Snack bar was the perfect place to kick off the celebrations with delicious food and beer/cocktails. Just on Queen and Bathurst, this tiny hub seats very few but is totally worth the wait as you can entertain yourselves with drinks. The weather was gorgeous out as they had the front windows cranked up and allowed us to enjoy the sun. Food/Drink: Flying Monkey, Steak tartare, 416 version of Scotch Eggs, lobster bisque, mushrooms on brioche, creamy seafood bun, pork bun, a miscellaneous vegetable dish, ham and cheese sandwich, and lamb chop.[gallery]
